of 280 years.....

For
during, the Moghul King Aurangzeb to the time of Empire, a virtual "Who's
Who"from Kings & Queens to the Viceroy of Indiacame
to dine or sleep in the embrace of the mansion's grandeur. In 1997 the family
renovated the elaborate complex of courtyards, arched corridors and residential
quarters to restore the mansion to all of its original glory.
Built on a sprawling complex, The Raj Palace is a testimony to the skills
of master craftsmen. All building arts of Rajasthan, like frescoes, mirror
and hand-painted works and stone carvings, among others, find exquisite
expression in this architectural marvel. The service is as good as the ambience-
royal in every way. The reborn Raj Palace is scaled for intimacy and caring
personal service, while providing every modern amenity for the comfort and
convenience of travelers.
When Sikander Lodi was the king of Delhi in 1503 AD. Maharaja Prithviraj
Singh ji was the ruler of Amber (The then capital of Jaipur city). One
of his sons, Gopal Singhji in the year 1528 AD became the ruler of Samode
and Mohanna and died in the battle at Ket at the time of emperor Akbar.
In the year 1565 AD Natha ji succeeded his father Gopal Singh ji and Nathajis
children after him were called Nathawats. Manohardas ji the
eldest son of Nathaji settled in Harota, a place about 2 miles to the
north of Chaumoo and gained victories with Maharaja Mansingh ji of Jaipur
in 22 engagements.
Further the ruler of Amber shouldered this responsibility on to his Prime
Minister Thakur Manohardas ji of Chaumoo who was sent to rule Kandhar during
this period Kandhar was attacked by a joint army of 5 small kingdoms and
in retaliation Thakur Manohardas ji defeated these armies in fierce battle
and conquered their kingdoms, he snatched their flags and sewed these flags
together and returned back to Amber and presented these flags to the ruler
of Amber. The King of Jaipur/Amber was so happy that he made this flag as
the official flag of Jaipur/ Amber state and to give honor to Manohardasji
, he presented the white flag of Japur to him which later became the official
flag of Chaumoo Karan Singh ji the eldest son of Manohardas ji succeeded
his father in year 1584 and founded the town of Chaumoo in 1598. He died
on the battle field at Kangra and his children acknowledge Chaumoo as their
feudatory chief through whom they gave military service to the Jaipur state
Karan Singhji son Sukh Singhji was succeeded by his son Raghu Nath Singhji
in the year 1691. He was wounded while fighting ion the Battle of Dholpur
in the presence of emperor Bahadur Shah Jafar.

Mohan Singh ji (who built this Haveli) succeeded Raghu Nath Singhji who
inturned succeeded by Jodh Singhji and Ratan Singhji who for his success
to the king of Jaipur received an increase of Rs. 3000 to his Jageer (which
was a large amount at that time) Ranjit Singhji succeeded Ratan Singhji
in the year 1783 and his son Kishan Singhji came to the throne in 1799 thereafter
him came Thakur Laxman Singhji in 1830 who did a lot for the state and adopted
Gobind Singh ji from Ajeyrajpura to succeed him in the year 1863 as he did
not have any male issue.

In 1889, Thakur Gobind Singhji received the title of Rao Bahadur
from the British Govt. Coln. Walter the AGG said that bestowing the title
of Rao Bahadur was to express their appreciation of his excellent services
and loyalty as member of council.The resources of the state was largely
developed under him and he was appointed member of council Thakur Devi Singhji
succeeded Gobindji who was 13 descendents. His eldest son Sangram Singhji
was adapted to Samode and his second son Raj Singhji succeeded the Chaumoo
state.
